Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/8/12)  The Dominican College men's basketball team extended their winning streak to five games this afternoon after defeating the visiting Devils from the University of the Sciences, 62-51.  With the victory the Chargesr improve to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

University of the Sciences led 15-11 with 10:34 left to play in the first half when the Chargers went on an 8-2 run to take the lead, 19-17.  Tied at 19-19 with just over six minutes left before the intermission, DC outscored the Devils 7-1 over the next eight points to claim their biggest lead of the game, 27-20.  USciences ended the scoring in the first half with two free throws to cut the deficit to 27-22 at the intermission.

The Devils cut the lead to 31-29 early in the second half, but three straight Charger buckets rebuilt an eight point advantage (37-29) with just over fourteen minutes left to play.  A Devil trey cut the lead to 47-43 with 7:36 left to play, but senior guard Leon Porter II* (Laurel, Md.) countered with a three of his own to extend the lead to seven points and he later closed out the game with two free throws for the 62-51 victory.

Porter led four players in double figures with 14 points and a team leading four assists.

Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, N.Y.) netted 13 points (7-8 from the free throw line) and five rebounds off the bench.

Senior Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) recorded his fifth consecutive double-double with 12 points and a game leading 13 rebounds.

Forward Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, Md.) added 11 points (4-7 from the floor).

The Chargers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to non-conference opponent, St. Thomas Aquinas College.
