CLINTON LEADS CHARGERS OVER UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO
San Juan, Puerto Rico (12/18/15) The Dominican College men's basketball team improved to 4-7 overall after defeating the Gallitos of the University of the Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras, 69-57, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez.

Senior guard Joe Clinton* (Pearl River, N.Y.) led Dominican with a career high 21 points, a game best seven rebounds, two steals and four assists.
Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) came off the bench to net 10 points, while Ethan Smith, Jr. (Nyack, N.Y.) scored nine points.
Guard Sean O'Reilly (Colts Neck, N.J.) also scored nine points, while Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) had four rebounds.
UPR-Rio Piedras scored the first five points of the game and led 15-13 with 9:12 remaining in the first half when the Chargers charged ahead with an 18-2 run to pull in front 29-19 with 2:45 on the clock. The Gallitos scored four straight to make the score 29-23, but Clinton closed out the first half with a trey for the 32-23 lead.
DC began the second stanza with a 10-4 run to increase the lead to 42-27 and would lead by as many as 21 points with just under six minutes remaining en route to the 60-57 win.
The Chargers will take on the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon tomorrow evening at 7pm AST and 8pm EST.
