Dominican opened the game with a basket from E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) just one minute and six seconds into the game and used a three-point bucket from CACC Rookie of the Week, Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) to lead, 9-7, with 13:50 left in the half. Caldwell used a 10-2 run to go ahead, 17-11 and they took a 36-29 lead into the locker room at the break.
The Chargers fought back to cut the deficit to four points three times in the second stanza, but a 10-3 Cougar run put them infront for good en route to the win.
Rodwell finished with a new career high of 24 points, shooting 6-12 from the three point arc and 9-18 from the floor.
Forward Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tallied 11 points and nine rebounds, while Smith also finished with 11 points and six boards.
Travis Cook (Middletown, N.Y.) came off the bench to score seven points, two assists and two steals.
The game saw a total of 50 fouls called and 54 free throws taken. Dominican went to the line 14 times and the Cougars took 40 free throws.
Dominican (5-3, 1-1 CACC) will host Concordia College this coming Saturday.
