CHARGERS COMPLETE SEASON SWEEP OF EAGLES.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/13/18) The Dominican College men's basketball team completed the season sweep of the Post University Eagles after defeating their opponent, 67-59, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest played on Coach Baxter Court.

Following the win, Dominican improves to 17-7 overall and 11-4 in the CACC.
The Eagles led 21-16 with 7:21 remaining in the first half when Dominican charged back with 11 unanswered points, the first six score by junior Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn.) to turn the tables and give DC the 27-21 advantage with 2:39 left in the half. Post would score the final four points of the frame to cut the lead to 31-29 at the break.
Dominican took the lead for good early in the second stanza as guard Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) connected on a trey with 14:32 to play to give his team the 41-38 edge. DC would extend the lead to nine points (47-38), but the Eagles would fight back and cut the lead to a single possession (52-50) with seven and a half minutes on the clock. Grant followed with four straight free throws and rookie TyJon Gilmore (Watervliet, N.Y.) added a jumper to rebuild an eight point lead with just over five minutes left as they went on to the 67-59 win.
Grant led all scorers in the game with 26 points (7-15 from the floor, 11-15 from the foul line) and added four rebounds.
Gardener finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) grabbed a game best 11 rebounds in the victory.
For the Eagles, Tyler Derosiers led four players in double figures with 17 points.
The Chargers return to action this coming Thursday night in a CACC North Division clash with the Golden Falcons of Felician University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm in the Hennessy Center.
