CHARGERS RALLY TO BEAT GOLDEN FALCONS

(2/15/18) The Dominican College men's basketball team, currently ranked seventh in the East Region, upended the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician University, 82-72, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division clash played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

With the win, Dominican improves to 18-7 overall and 12-4 in conference play.
Felician (10-14, 7-9 CACC) controlled the first half as they jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first six minutes and led by as many 13 points (40--27) with a little over two minutes left in the half. Dominican closed first half play with seven straight points to cut the deficit to 40-35 at the break.
Junior Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn.) led the Chargers with eight first half points and five rebounds.
Dominican charged back into the contest as they began the second half on a 23-8 tear to turn the tides and claim 59-48 lead with 12:40 left in the game. Following a Golden Falcon jumper, DC used a free throw from freshman TyJon Gilmore (Watervliet, N.Y.) to regain a double-digit lead and later a dunk from Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) extended the lead to 19 points (81-62) with 4:49 to go. Felician closed out the game with six straight shots from the charity stripe for the 82-72 final.
Sophomore Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) led three Chargers in double figures with 22 points, while adding six rebounds and five assists.
Gardener finished with 17 points and six boards and Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) added 16 points, four caroms and four assists.
Garcia netted 10 points, a team leading six assists and a game best four steals in the win.
For the Golden Falcons, Terrell Spaulding scored a game high 25 points and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds.
DC will travel to conference opponent Goldey-Beacom College this coming Saturday afternoon.
