MEN'S BASKETBALL EDGED BY NEW HAVEN

Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/2/19) The Dominican College men's basketball team fell to the University of New Haven by a score of 65-64. UNH improved to 7-4 with the win and DC falls to 8-3 on the season overall.
UNH opened the game with an 11-0 run before Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) put the Chargers on the board with a three-pointer to end the run. UNH led DC by as many as 11 points in the opening half held a 34-23 lead at halftime.
Najee Larcher led all scorers at halftime with 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Ginyard led the Chargers at halftime with six points.
The Chargers outscored UNH 23-10 through the first ten minutes of the second half to take their first lead of the game.
DC led UNH by eight points with over six minutes left to play. UNH used a 16-7 to close out the victory.
Dominican took the lead with 19 seconds remaining on three consecutive made free-throws by Ginyard. Roy Kane Jr. was fouled with seven seconds remaining and made a lay-up to tie the game. Kane knocked down the free-throw to give UNH the lead.
UNH held onto the lead and closed out their seventh win of the season.
Elijah Bailey led all scorers in the game with 21 points. Derrick Rowland contributed 10 points in the win while Najee Larcher finished the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Quashawn Lane scored 9 points while Roy Kane Jr. also scored 9 points and recorded 10 rebounds.
Ginyard led the team with 14 points. Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.), Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.), and Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) each scored nine points in the loss.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, January 5th when they host Chestnut Hill College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match-up. The Game is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
