With the win, Dominican improves to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in CACC play.
Junior guard Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) led all scorers and five Chargers in double figures with 25 points, shooting 9-16 from the floor and 5-5 from the charity stripe, and five rebounds.
Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn.) contributed 13 points and six boards, while Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) scored 12 points and a game best seven assists.
Guards Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) each tallied 11 points, with Garcia adding six caroms, four assists and four steals in the victory.
Dominican led 21-20 with nine and a half minutes remaining in the first half when a 12-4 charge increased the lead to 33-24 and they went into the locker room with a 37-31 lead at the break.
The Chargers outscored their opponents 62-29 in the second frame and held a 22-14 edge in rebounds. As a team they shot 63.9% (23-36) from the floor, 60% (6-10) from the three-point arc and 83.3% (10-12) from the foul line in the half.
DC took advantage of GCU turnovers, netting 25 points off 20 turnovers. Dominican also scored 16 second chance points and tallied 36 points off the bench in the win.
Next up for the Chargers will be a home CACC contest against Concordia College this coming Wednesday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
