Following the loss Dominican, who is currently ranked 24th nationally in the latest D2SIDA Division II National Poll, now stands at 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the CACC.
Senior Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) led all scorers with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) had a team best five assists, to go along with 13 points and six boards. Forward Tedrick Wilcox (Pawtucket, R.I.) added 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 11 points.
Dominican trailed 11-3 early in the contest, but rallied and took the lead on a three-point basket from sophomore guard Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) with just under five minutes left in the first half. Burgess closed out the first half with back-to-back buckets to claim a 36-33 advantage.
Serrano hit a jumper with 8:42 left in regulation to give the Chargers the 66-59 advantage. Bloomfield rallied with a 14-4 run over the next eight minutes to push ahead, 73-70. Grant pulled DC within a point (72-73) with just under a minute to play, but a layup and a free throw from the Bears confirmed the 76-72 win.
Rich Chapman came off the bench to lead Bloomfield with 18 points. Three other players netted double digits in the win.
DC is scheduled to host Felician University this coming Saturday on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm.
