SERRANO SCORES CAREER HIGH IN WIN OVER PURPLE KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/21/21) Redshirt sophomore Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) netted a career high 35 points (13-16 from the floor, 4-6 from the three point arc) to lead the Dominican College men's basketball team to the 103-83 victory over the visiting Purple Knights from the University of Bridgeport this evening in the finale of the 9th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament.

With the win, Dominican improves to 4-0 on the season with a season high 103 points.
Serrano came off the bench to net the 35 points in just 22 minutes of action, while adding two assists and two steals.
Guard Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted 21 points, while Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) recorded the game's only double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) pulled down a game best 13 rebounds and freshman Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) delivered eight points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Tim Dawson led the Purple Knights with 21 points.
Bridgeport led 15-12 with 12:03 left in first half when the Chargers went on a 14-0 run with Serrano scoring eight of those points to turn the tide and take the 26-15 lead. A 7-0 closing quarter run with Johnson netting five of the points extend the Dominican advantage to 46-29 at the intermission.
Dominican led by as many as 26 points in the second half (84-58) on a dunk by Burgess wih 8:02 left in regulation en route to the victory.
The Chargers shot 54.5% (37-68) from the floor for the contest.
DC returns to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Bowie State in the first game of the Harlem Renaissance Classic. Tip-off is slated for 5pm.
