#13/#19 MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO NYACK COLLEGE
Jersey City, N.J. (1/19/22) The #13/#19 Dominican College men’s basketball team dropped a conference game to the Nyack College Warriors by a score of 78-70.
Jersey City, N.J. (1/19/22) The #13/#19 Dominican College men's basketball team dropped a conference game to the Nyack College Warriors by a score of 78-70.
DC's late comeback fell short as they dropped to 10-3 (3-2 CACC) on the season.
Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) led the team in points with 27. Burgess also added six rebounds, six steals, and three assists. Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) provided a spark off of the bench with 19 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) finished with eight points, four assists, and two steals. Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added seven points while Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) scored six points and added five rebounds.
Joel Bailey led all scorers with 29 points and also added six rebounds, and five assists. Isayas Aris recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. D'ondre Dent added 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Both teams played an even first half but the Warriors were able to extend to a six point lead over DC by halftime. The Chargers were led by Burgess in the opening half with 13 points.
In the second half, the Warriors extended to their largest lead of the game over the Chargers which was 22 points.
The Chargers trailed by 17 points with three minutes remaining. DC used a 15-6 run to end the game and cut the deficit to six points but the Warriors were able to hold on to secure the win.
The Chargers will look to bounce back this Sunday, January 23rd when they travel to Holy Family University for a conference game with the Tigers at 3:00 PM.
