MEN'S BASKETBALL TURNED AWAY BY WILDCATS

Newark, DE (2/12/22) The Dominican College men's basketball team dropped a conference game to the Wildcats of Wilmington University by a score of 79-75.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 16-5 (9-4 CACC). The Wildcats improved to 8-17 (5-10 CACC) after the win.
Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) led the team in points with 19 and rebounds with 12 for a double-double. Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 15 points. Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) added 13 points and four rebounds.
Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) added nine points while Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) scored eight points and added a team-high eight assists.
The Chargers shot 45.2% from the field in the game. Both teams played a strong first half and DC led by three points at halftime. The Chargers' largest lead of the half was six points.
The Wildcats used a 13-6 run to open the second half to take the lead over the Chargers and never lost the lead from there.
Wilmington extended out to their largest lead of the game which was eight points over DC. Down the stretch, the Chargers were able to cut the deficit to two points but the Wildcats were able to hold on and secure the win.
For Wilmington, Danny Walsh scored a team-high 20 points and added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Justin Thomas finished with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Caleb Matthews added 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Nalik Veasley recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they host the Bears of Bloomfield College on Tuesday, February 15th at 7:30 PM.
