SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS DOMINICAN OVER ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/22) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team rallied from an eleven point halftime deficit to defeat the visiting Greyhounds of Assumption University in non-conference action played tonight on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

With the win Dominican improves to 3-0 overall, while Assumption falls to 2-1 on the season.
The Greyhounds controlled the first half, shooting 50% (15-30) from the floor and 80% (4-5) from the charity stripe en route to a 40-29 half time advantage. Isiah Gaiter led the team with 13 points in the half.
Dominican trailed 13-5 with 15:35 left in the first stanza when a 14-2 Charger run put them up 19-15. Ahead 25-22, the Greyhounds closed out the half on a 18-4 run to rebuild the 40-29 lead at the break.
A Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) trey with 12:47 to go in regulation brought Dominican within a point (49-48) and later a jumper by Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) re-tied the game at 55-all with under 10 minutes left.
Johnson would later score the go-ahead jumper with under three minutes left to give DUNY the 70-68 edge. Both teams scored 10 points each over the remaining 2:45 for the final 80-78 Charger win.
Johnson led three Chargers in double figures with 18 points and five assists.
Forward Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) added 15 points and five rebounds, while Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) scored 10 points and four boards in the win.
Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) pulled down a team best six rebounds and freshman Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored a career high nine points and five caroms.
Gaiter led Assumption with a game best 21 points.
The Chargers return to action this weekend as they host the 10th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament. Dominican will take on Cheyney University on Saturday with tip-off slated for 6:30pm.
