New Haven, Conn. (10/31/23) Caldwell University and Thomas Jefferson University were tabbed first in their respective divisions in the 2023-24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Tuesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. The Rams earned a league-high 65 points in the voting and 10 first-place votes, while the Cougars received 64 points and nine first-place nods. The voting was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches in the sport.
Caldwell and Jefferson met in an exciting CACC Championship Final last March with the Cougars pulling out the win and claiming the title on the Rams' home court. The Cougars went on to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament as the No. 8 seed and knocked off top-seeded and host-school Saint Anselm College in the first round.
Rounding out the top three in North was Dominican University (2nd, 50 pts, 1 1st vote) and Felician University (3rd, 49 pts, 2 1st votes). The top three in the South also included Goldey-Beacom College (2nd, 53 pts, 2 1st votes) and Wilmington University (3rd, 44 pts). Dominican also represented the CACC in last spring's NCAA Tournament.
The 2023-24 season gets underway the weekend of Nov. 10-12, as the regular season will be a buildup to the CACC Championship tournament on March 5, 9-10. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by Caldwell University.
