CHARGERS TAKE DOWN NORTH DIVISION FOE POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/6//24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team won their fourth game in their last five after defeating north division rival Post University on Coach Baxter Court.
With the win, the Chargers split the season with the Eagles after falling earlier in the season.
The Chargers improve to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play while the Eagles fall to 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the CACC.
Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored a game-high 21 points on 5-8 from the field and went a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line. Honis also recorded a team-high seven boards and added three assists.
Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) scored 18 points and recorded five boards while Darryl Brown Jr. (Dallas, Texas) scored 11 points on 4-4 shooting.
The Charger bench provided a big boost by scoring 69 points with Honis, Sharif-Brown, and Brown Jr. combining for 50 points. Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) contributed eight points while Isiaih Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored seven points.
The Chargers shot 48.6% from the field in the first half and held a 42-39 advantage by halftime.
Post took a slim lead early on in the second half but the Chargers answered by going on a 21-10 run to take a double-digit lead.
The Eagles cut the deficit to five points with two minutes left but the Chargers never lost the lead and secured the win.
Robert Sanders led Post in scoring with 19 points and added four boards and two assists while Bol Akot scored 12 points and added seven boards, five assists, and four steals. TaQuan Williams scored 13 points while Deng Deang pulled down a team-high nine boards.
The Chargers return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Holy Family University to take on the Tigers at 3:00 PM.
