LAKE ERIE COLLEGE UPENDS MEN'S LACROSSE
Orangeburg, NY (4/14/12) The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team upended host Dominican College, 13-6, this afternoon in an East Coast Conference (ECC) contest held on the DC Lacrosse Field. Following the loss, Dominican falls to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play, while Lake Erie improves to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the ECC.

Following the loss, Dominican falls to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play, while Lake Erie improves to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the ECC.
Lake Erie College scored the first three goals of the contest which consumed the first quarter and just about the first eight minutes of the second quarter.
Dominican got on the board with 7:15 left in the second quarter as junior attacker Daniel Steigert (Copiague, NY) netted his third goal of the season off the assist from Nicholas Capano (Troy, NY). A Storm goal made the score 4-1, but Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, NY) scored his 13th goal of the season off an assist by Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) to cut the deficit to 4-2 with 3:03 to go before the intermission.
From there, Lake Erie College went on a 4-0 run that closed the second quarter and started things off in the third quarter to go ahead 8-2. Dertinger broke the run with his second goal of the game with 9:13 left in the third quarter. A man-up goal by the Storm gave them an 9-3 lead, but the Chargers closed out third quarter play with two straight goals off the sticks of Sean McGregor (Bloomingburg, NY) and Dertinger with assists credited to Dertinger and Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) to cut the Storm lead to 9-5.
The Storm scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter, but Capano tallied his first goal of the season and the final goal of the game with 45 ticks left on the clock for the final 13-6 score.
Dertinger led the Chargers with four points (3 goals, 1 assist).
Goalie Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) made 12 saves in the loss.
DC is back in action next Saturday as they travel to ECC opponent, C.W. Post.
