CHARGERS END SEASON WITH LOSS TO #10 DOWLING COLLEGE
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/30/16) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team ended the 2016 season with a 25-7 loss to #10 Dowling College in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex. Today was Senior Day for the Chargers as the team honored two seniors at halftime.

Dominican took an early 1-0 lead as freshman David Arent (Huntington Beach, Calif.) netted his first game goal off the assist from Kevin Mayer (Wantagh, N.Y.) with 10:08 to play in the first quarter. The Golden Lions tied the score less than two minutes later and went on to score two more goals to take a 3-1 advantage. Mayer brought DC within one goal with 2:09 to play and senior Conor Reeves* (Tappan, N.Y.) tied the game at 3-3 on a man-up opportunity, following the dish from Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.), with 12 ticks left in the first.
Dowling opened the second quarter on a 5-0 run before Reeves scored his second game goal on another man-up opportunity after the pass from Wiberly. The Golden Lions went on another 5-0 run to increase their lead to 13-4. Freshman attacker Aaron Yulfo (Shirley, N.Y.) scored his goal off the pass from Arent during a man-up opportunity to close out the first half and make the score, 13-5.
The Golden Lions began the second half on a 5-0 run before midfielder Cristopher Polanco (White Plains, N.Y.) netted an unassisted goal with 4:35 to play in the third.
Arent scored the game's final goal with nine seconds left for the final 25-7 score.
Reeves and Arent both had two game goals, while Arent added an assist for three game points.
Wiberly finished with two assists.
Matthew Sandelier (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) finished with six saves in 30 minutes, while Carlos Villaman (Montgomery, N.Y.) made seven saves in the second half.
At halftime, the team honored seniors #8 Conor Reeves* and #13 Peter Blickley (Pearl River, N.Y.)
With the loss, Dominican ends their season with an overall record of 3-12 and a 1-7 ECC record.
