MEN'S LACROSSE RALLYS TO BEAT OHIO VALLEY UNIVERSITY
Fairmount, W.V. (3/14/17) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team rallied from a 5-1 halftime deficit to defeat the Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots, 11-9, this afternoon in a game played at East/West Stadium.

With the win, Dominican improves to 2-2 overall on the season.
East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week, Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) led the Charger with three game goals.
Kevin Meaney (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added two goals, while Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.) netted one goal and three assists.
Goalie Matthew Sandelier (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) tied his career high with 15 saves.
OHV netted two goals in the first quarter and began the scoring in the second stanza to lead 3-0. Junior Kevin Mayer (Wantagh, N.Y.) got the Chargers on the scoreboard with the unassisted goal with 12:07 left in the quarter, but the Fighting Scots added two more scores before the half for the 5-1 lead.
Meaney started off the scoring in the third quarter with his first game goal and later a 3-0 spurt with goals from Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.), Sean Driscoll (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Wiberly cut the deficit to 6-5. D'Alessandro scored his first game goal with 1:15 left in the third off the dish from Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Meaney end the quarter with his second goal off Heegan's second assist to tie the game, 7-7.
In the final quarter, DC took their first lead of the game as Ryan Ward (Galloway, N.J.) recorded a man-down goal for the 8-7 edge. OVU re-tied the game less than a minute later, but the Chargers used another 3-0 run to pull ahead for good. D'Alessandro began the run with his second game goal off the pass from Wiberly and freshman Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) netted his first collegiate goal. D'Alessandro completed the hat trick with his third game goal off the assist from Wiberly for the 11-8 lead with 4:20 left in the contest. The Fighting Scots had the last score of the game.
Dominican continues on their West Virginia road trip as they travel to Davis & Elkins College this coming Thursday evening.
