CHARGERS EDGE DAVIS & ELKINS IN OVERTIME

Freshman midfielder Kevin Meaney (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied the game-winning goal with 1:36 left in the first overtime period off the assist from East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week, Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.).
Attacker Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.) opened the scoring with a goal with 12:36 left in the first quarter off the pass from Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.). The Senators tied the game less than a minute later, but the Chargers retook a 2-1 advantage as D'Alessandro netted his first game goal off Wiberly's second assist. Consecutive Davis & Elkins scores put them in the lead with a little over four minutes left in the opening quarter. However junior Phil Shield (Belmar, N.J.) and Sean Driscoll (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals off passes from Meaney and Reyes to give DC the 4-3 lead at the end of one quarter.
Both teams netted three goals each in the second frame to make the score 7-6 at the intermission. Meaney recorded his second game goal off Wiberly's third assist and Driscoll later followed with his second goal off the pass from Chris Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) with 11:04 left in the quarter. Heegan ended the quarter with his first goal off the pass from Meaney to conclude first half play.
Heegan started the scoring in the third quarter with an unassisted goal and the Senators countered to trail 8-7 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw a combined nine goals and eight assists. Reyes (Heegan) put the Chargers up 12-11 with 1:20 on the clock, but Davis & Elkins forced overtime as they scored with six ticks left on the clock.
Driscoll, Meaney and Heegan all netted three goals in the win.
D'Alessandro and Wiberly finished with three assists each, while Heegan added two assists.
Goalie Matthew Sandelier (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) had 12 saves.
Dominican will end their trip to West Virginia on Saturday as they take on Alderson-Broaddus University.
