CHARGERS FALL TO SAILFISH

Dominican (0-2) got on the scoreboard with 13:49 left in the first quarter when sophomore Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) netted his first goal of the game off the assist from Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.). The Chargers increased the lead to 2-1 about five minutes later when freshman Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal following the pass from Pierce.
A Sailfish goal broke the run, but senior Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) regained a two-goal lead with his first game goal off the assist from Kevin Mayer (Wantagh, N.Y.) with 4:09 left in the quarter. A PBA goal ended the first quarter scoring and made the score 3-2.
Pierce scored his second game goal (Wiberly) on a man-up opportunity to give them the 4-3 advantage with 12:31 before the break, but the Sailfish closed out the first half with three straight goals to take their first lead, 6-4, at the intermission.
DC outscored their opponents, 2-1 in the third quarter after Pierce completed the hat trick with his third game goal and sophomore Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) closed out the quarter with goal off Wiberly's third assist of the game to make the score 7-6 at the end of three quarters.
Palm Beach would outscore Dominican 5-2 in the final 15 minutes with two Charger goals coming off the stick of Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.). D'Alessandro made the pass on the first man-up goal with 10:24 left and followed about four minutes later following the pass from Pierce en route to the final 12-8 Sailfish victory.
Senior goalie Matthew Sandelier (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) made a career high 18 saves in the loss.
Pierce finished the game with three goals and two assist, while Reyes tallied two goals and Wiberly led the way with three assists.
The Chargers continue on their road trip in Florida as they take on Lynn University Wednesday night.
