CHARGERS RALLY TO EDGE YELLOW JACKETS

Hillburn, N.Y. (3/29/18) The Chargers earned their first win of the season as they hosted American International College in a non-conference game on Thursday. The game was played at the Torne Valley Complex in Hillburn, New York. The victory improved Dominican's 2018 record to 1-7.
The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the first quarter when Rawill Herrera scored for the 1-0 lead. The Chargers used a four-goal run to jump out to a 4-1 over four minutes. The Yellow Jackets answered with two goals to cut the deficit to 4-3 to end the first quarter off strong.
Dominican started the second quarter off strong with back to back goals to extend their lead out to 6-3 over the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets used a five-goal run to regain the lead over the Chargers and finish the first half with an 8-6 lead.
Both teams traded goals in the third quarter, but the Yellow Jackets outscored the Chargers 5-3 in the quarter and took a 13-9 lead into the final quarter. The Chargers outscored the Yellow Jackets 5-0 in the fourth quarter to regain the lead and closed out the 14-13 win.
Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.) led the Chargers with four goals in the win on ten shots and added an assist. Wiberly scored twice in the fourth quarter including the tying goal. Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored three goals in the win and added an assist. Heegan's third goal of the game was the go-ahead goal to put his team up 14-13 with just over a minute to play. Chris Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.), Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.), and Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) all finished with two goals and Reyes added four assists. Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) added a goal and two assists in the win.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday April 4th when they travel to St. Joseph's College for a non-conference match up at 5:30 PM.
