Patchogue, N.Y. (4/4/18) The Chargers traveled to Patchogue, New York for a non-conference game with the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's (L.I.). The Chargers fell by a score 11-7 which dropped their record to 1-8 on the season.
The Golden Eagles had a strong start by jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. The Golden Eagles continued their run into the second quarter by scoring two more goals to make the score 7-0. The Chargers ended the run and got on the board to make the score 7-1 when Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) scored with just over two minutes remaining in the half.
In the third quarter, the Golden Eagles scored three straight goals to jump out to a 10-1 lead. Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) ended the run at the end of the third quarter to make the score 10-2.
Dominican started off the fourth quarter strong with three straight goals to cut into the deficit and make the score 10-5. Pierce contributed two goals in the run and Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.) contributed his first goal of the game.
The run was put to a stop when Casey Hickey made the score 11-5. The Chargers would not go away as they added two more goals before the game ended. Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) and Reyes cut the deficit to 11-7 which eventually became the final score.
Keeper Joseph Fabiilli (Glen Head, N.Y.) made 16 saves in the loss.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday April 7th when they travel to Chestnut Hill College for a CACC match up with the Griffins at 12:00 PM.
