MEN'S LACROSSE FALL TO GRIFFINS

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/7/18) The Chargers traveled to Chestnut Hill College for conference match up with the Griffins on Saturday. The game marked the first conference game of the season for both teams and the Griffins came away with the win. The Griffins improved to 4-6 (1-0 CACC) while the Chargers fell to 1-9 (0-1 CACC) on the season.
In the first quarter, both teams played an evenly matched game and Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.) scored twice for the Chargers. Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) added a goal late in the quarter to cut the deficit to 4-3 with less than a minute left.
The Griffins scored four times in the second quarter and Michael Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.) added a goal and the Griffins took an 8-4 lead into halftime.
Reyes got the scoring started in the third quarter with his second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 8-5. The Griffins answered with four straight goals to extend out to a 12-5 lead by the end of the third quarter.
The Chargers got two goals back at the start of the fourth quarter when Christian Hernandez (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored back to back goals to cut the deficit to 12-7. The Griffins extended their lead to 14-7 and the Chargers answered with two goals before the end of the game. The Griffins secured a 14-9 victory.
Goalie Joseph Fabiilli (Glen Head, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the loss.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday April 11th when they return home to host the Post University Eagles for a CACC contest at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
