Hillburn, N.Y. (4/11/18) The Chargers earned a conference win over Post University on Wednesday at home by a score of 12-5. The win improves Dominican's record to 2-9 (1-1 CACC) as they earn their first conference win of the season.
The Chargers opened the scoring in the first quarter when Ryan Wiberly (Setauket, N.Y.) scored for the early 1-0 lead. The Eagles answered to tie the game with a goal from Dominic Parente. Dominican put together three straight goals to finish the quarter with a 4-1 lea. Chris Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.), Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.), and Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) each added a goal in the opening quarter.
Both teams recorded two goals each in the second quarter with Post scoring the first two to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Chargers answered with two goals to make the score 6-3 in favor of Dominican. Wiberly and Heegan scored both goals in the second quarter to give the Chargers the lead at halftime.
The Chargers used a four-goal run in the third quarter to extend their lead out of halftime to 10-3. The Eagles ended the run with a goal with less than a minute to play in the quarter to cut the deficit down to 10-4.
The Chargers added two more goals in the fourth quarter while the Eagles added one goal. The Chargers secured the win by a final of 12-5.
Wiberly and D'Alessandro led the Chargers in scoring by recording three goals each. Evan Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) contributed two goals while Chris Heegan and Pierce added one goal in the win.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday April 14th when they travel to Georgian Court University for a CACC match up at 11:00 AM.
