CHARGERS EDGED BY LIONS

Lakewood, N.J. (4/14/18) The Chargers fell to Georgian Court University in a CACC conference game which was played at the GCU T&F Complex in Lakewood, New Jersey. The Chargers fell to the Lions by a score of 8-6 which drops Dominican's record to 2-10 (1-2 CACC). The Lions improved to 7-6 (3-0 CACC) with the win.
The Chargers scored the first goal for the early 1-0 lead in the opening quarter when Michael Reyes (East Meadow, NY) scored less than two minutes in. Jeffery Galatola tied the game at 1-1 about one minute later. The Chargers regained the lead with an unassisted goal from Chris Heegan (North Babylon, NY). The Lions scored the next two goals to take their first lead of the game and closed out the first quarter with a 3-2 lead over Dominican.
The Lions extended their lead to 4-2 when Brandon Razler scored the first goal of the second quarter. Christian Hernandez (Farmingdale, NY) cut the deficit to 4-3 but the Lions' Jeffery Galatola scored his second goal of the game for the 5-3 lead heading into halftime.
Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, NY) scored the only goal in the third quarter to get the Chargers back to within one goal before the fourth quarter. Evan Heegan (North Babylon, NY) started the scoring in the fourth quarter by tying the game at 5-5. The Lions scored the next three goals to take an 8-5 lead with Galatola scoring his third goal of the game and Michael Saladino scoring back to back goals. Kevin Mayer (Wantagh, NY) added the final goal of the game with 34 seconds left as the Lions closed out an 8-6 victory.
Austin Geissel earned the win in goal for the Lions and recorded 14 saves while Joseph Fabiilli (Glen Head, NY) recorded 20 saves in goal for the Chargers.
The Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday April 17th when they host CACC opponent Wilmington University Wildcats at 4:00 PM. The game will be played at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
