Orangeburg, N.Y. (7/12/18) Dominican College Director of Athletics, Joseph S. Clinton, has announced the appointment of Daniel Steigert as the interim head men's lacrosse coach for the 2018-2019 school year.
"We are happy to have Dan step into this role," said Clinton. "His experience as the associate head coach on the lacrosse staff for the past six years made him the perfect person to lead the program on an interim basis."
Steigert replaces Marcelo Sandoval who resigned in June after four seasons.
"I would like to thank Athletic Director Joe Clinton, Sister Mary Eileen O'Brien and the entire athletic department staff for this amazing opportunity" Steigert said. "I am excited to get to work with our student-athletes and administration and to continue to build a program that will be a contender in the CACC and on the national level!"
Steigert began his collegiate coaching career in 2013 when he joined the Charger staff as the associate head coach. He assisted in all facets of the program, including recruiting, travel coordination, composing game and practice plans and monitoring academics.
A 2013 graduate of Dominican College, Steigert spent four seasons on the men's lacrosse team where he served as team captain in his senior year. He earned a degree in Marketing Management and was a member of the Dominican College Business Club.
He will be the eighth coach selected to lead the Charger lacrosse program in its history dating back to 2003.
