MEN'S LACROSSE EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Springfield, Mass. (2/26/19) The Dominican College men’s lacrosse team defeated the Yellow Jackets of American International College by a score of 16-11.
Springfield, Mass. (2/26/19) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team defeated the Yellow Jackets of American International College by a score of 16-11. The win marks the Chargers first win of the 2019 season as they improve to 1-1 overall. The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-5 after the loss.
DC opened up the game with a strong first quarter. The Chargers jumped out to a two-goal lead to start the game with goals from Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.). AIC got on the board with a goal by Quinn Caesar.
The Chargers ended the first quarter with four straight goals and held a 6-1 lead heading into the second quarter.
Caesar opened the second quarter with his second goal of the game for AIC. Dominican answered with three unanswered goals. The Yellow Jackets scored back-to-back goals to end the first half with DC leading 9-4.
AIC used a five-goal run in the third quarter to tie the game at 9-9. Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) scored at the end of the third quarter to give DC the lead back. D'Alessandro scored again to start the fourth quarter to extend the DC lead to two goals.
Quinn Caesar scored his fifth goal of the game to cut the DC lead back to one. DC scored three straight goals to regain a four-goal lead. Quinn scored one more goal for AIC in the fourth quarter but DC scored two more goals to secure the 16-11 victory.
Nicholas D'Alessandro led DC with five goals in the win. Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) scored four goals while Daniel Carson added three goals. Luke Martini scored two goals, Nicolas Jelovcic (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored one goal, and Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) finished with one goal.
John Rooney (Bellmore, N.Y.) earned his win by making 10 saves for the Chargers.
Quinn Caesar led the way for the Yellow Jackets with six goals in the loss.
The Chargers will be back in action when they host St. Michael's College on Sunday, March 3rd at 1:00 PM.
