MEN'S LACROSSE UPENDS LIONS
Hillburn, N.Y. (5/1/21) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team concluded the regular season with a 15-14 victory over the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

With the win, Dominican improves to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
First quarter: Freshman attacker Connor Holland (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) got things going with a goal of the pass from Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) for the 1-0 lead with 10:14 left. The Lions tied the game almost four minutes later, but Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) regained a 2-1 edge with a goal from the pass by Carson. Later tied at 2-all, Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) gave DC the 3-2 lead off the pass from senior Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.).
Second quarter: The second frame was a high scoring affair with 13 total goals between the teams. GCU netted the first three goals of the quarter, before Holland broke the run with back-to-back goals off passes from Carson and Pierce and midfielder William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.) gave the team the 6-5 lead with seven and a half minutes left in the half. Gordon would later give DC the 7-6 edge with 5:40 left in the quarter following the pass from Cole Vencack (Smithtown, N.Y.). Martini and Carson tallied two more goals in the remaining four minutes to see the score tied at 9-all at the break.
Third quarter: GCU struck first in the third quarter for the 10-9 advantage, but 13 seconds later Pierce re-tied the score with an unassisted goal. Carson, Gordon and Vencack led Dominican on a 3-0 closing quarter run to push them infront 13-11.
Fourth quarter: Dominican kept the run going with the first two goals of the final quarter off the sticks of Martini (Pierce) and Holland (Carson) to go head 15-11 with 9:40 left in the game. The Lions ended the game on a 3-0 run for the final 15-14 score.
Holland led Dominican with four goals, while Martini and Gordon each netted three goals and one assist.
Carson finished with two goals and a career high six assists with Pierce, Vencack and Teahan all adding a goal. Pierce finished with three assists and Vencack had one.
Charger keeper Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) made 11 saves in the win.
Starting keeper Austin Geissel made 11 saves in three quarter of action for GCU. His tenth save gave him 1,000 career saves and he becomes the first player in NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse to reach that plateau.
DC has earned the fifth seed in the upcoming CACC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, slated to begin this coming Tuesday. Dominican will travel to #4 Caldwell University on May 4th.
