Albany, N.Y. (3/22/23) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell to the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose in non-conference action at Sullivan Field in Albany, N.Y.

After the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-5 overall on the season. The Golden Knights improve to 2-7 overall after the win. 

Gerardo Caltagirone (Tappan, N.Y.) started in goal for the Chargers and made nine saves but suffered the loss. Caltagirone added a team-high five ground balls. 

Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished the game with one goal and one assist. Jason Allen (Middletown, N.J.), Eric Greenwood (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.), Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.), and Richard Spivak (Center Moriches, N.Y.) each finished with one goal. 

Brian Barker (Wyckoff, N.J.) added four ground balls while Joseph DeGregorio (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Jordan Scott (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) recorded three ground balls. 

Greenwood scored the first goal of the game, but the Golden Knights finished the first quarter with four of the next five goals. 

Both teams traded goals to begin the second quarter before the Golden Knights ended the first half with six unanswered goals to extend their lead to 11-3 by halftime. 

The Golden Knights added four goals in the second half and held Dominican to three goals on their way to the 15-6 victory.

St. Rose was led by Cam Smith who scored six goals. Eddie Baker added three goals and one assist while Noah Gibson scored two goals and recorded two assists. 

The Chargers will look to bounce back when they return home next Wednesday, March 29th against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College at 4:00 PM.
