SPARTANS OUTLAST CHARGERS IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
Hillburn, N.Y. (3/29/23) The Dominican University New York men’s lacrosse team fell in non-conference action to the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College by a score of 10-7.

The Chargers fall to 2-6 overall after the loss while STAC improves to 4-5 overall.
Gerardo Caltagirone (Tappan, N.Y.) started in goal for the Chargers and made 11 saves but suffered the loss. Craig Peavy started in goal for STAC and made 22 saves to help the Spartans secure the win.
Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored a hat trick to lead Dominican in goals scored. Richard Spivak (Center Moriches, N.Y.) also finished with three points by adding a team-high three assists.
Sean Cosgrove (Warwick, N.Y.) finished the game with two goals while William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.) and Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) each added one goal. Vencak also recorded one assist.
STAC was led by Jonathan Farley who scored a team-high three goals. Ryan Christensen, John Pena, and Reno Molina each scored two goals while Austin Palen added one goal. Steven Apicella recorded a team-high four assists.
STAC opened the game with three straight goals before Vencak put the Chargers on the board. The Spartans added two more goals and began the second quarter with a 5-1 lead.
Cosgrove's two goals in the second quarter cut the deficit to 5-3 by halftime.
The Chargers cut the Spartan lead to one but the Spartans answered by outsourcing Dominican 4-2 in the third quarter. Dominican added two more goals in the fourth quarter but STAC held on for the 10-7 win.
The Chargers return to action on Friday night when they host Chestnut Hill College for their CACC opener at 7:00 PM.
