CHARGERS TAKE DOWN #17 MERRIMACK COLLEGE

(9/5/13) The Dominican College men's soccer team took down Merrimack College, ranked 17th nationally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Preseason Ranking Poll, 1-0 this evening in their season opening game held on Martone-Mejail Field at the Merrimack Classic.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 1-0, while the Warriors fall to 0-1.
The game-winning goal was scored at the 86:20 mark as freshman forward Matheus Sousa (Cuiaba, Brazil) recorded his first collegiate goal off the assist from senior midfielder Sony Narro (Stamford, Conn.)
Dominican outshot the Warriors, 9-5, for the game and outshot MC 6-2 in the first half. DC also had the edge in corner kicks, 5-3.
Senior keeper Andres Ruiz (Medellin, Colombia) played all 90 minutes in the net.
DC will return to action on Saturday as they take on American International College in the Merrimack Classic.
