Garden City, N.Y. (9/3/15) The Dominican College men's soccer team fell in their season opener, 1-0, to Southern Connecticut State University this evening in the opening game of the Second Annual Adelphi Alumni Invitational hosted by Adelphi University.

The game-winner for the Owls came was an unassisted goal scored at the 8:23 mark in the first half after there was a scramble in the middle of the box.

Dominican outshot SCSU 13-6 for the game and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalie Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) made three saves in 90 minutes of action.

Dominican will take on the host, Adelphi University, on Saturday night in the finale game of the Invitational. Kick off is slated for 6:00 pm.
