AIC SHUTS OUT MEN'S SOCCER
Garden City, N.Y. (8/31/17) The Men's Soccer team looked to start the 2017 season off on the right foot when they visited American International College on Thursday. The Chargers were shutout by the Yellow Jackets 2-0 which drops their early record to 0-1 (0-0 CACC).

The Chargers fired 9 shots at Yellow Jacket Goalkeeper Nicholas Romei who recorded his first victory and shutout on the season with four saves. Charger sophomore Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain) took four shots in the game, three were recorded on goal and stopped by Romei. Senior forward Tom Kcira (New City, N.Y.) recorded the fourth and final shot on goal for the Chargers. The Yellow Jackets took 11 total shots overall and 6 were recorded on goal.
Freshman Goalkeeper Joshua Stephens (Stoney Creek, Ontario) made four saves for the Chargers in the first game of his college career. At the 39:25 mark of the first half, AIC sophomore captain Jake Durham scored the first goal of the game which was his first goal of the season. The game remained 1-0 until the 88:47 mark when Jovanni Garcia scored on a breakaway chance which ended the Charger's chances of coming back. Both AIC goals went unassisted in the 2-0 win which improved their record to 1-0 (0-0 NE-10).
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they visit Adelphi University on Saturday September 2nd at 6:00 PM for the Adelphi University Alumni Invitational.
