Nyack, N.Y. (9/27/17) The Dominican College men's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to tie the game and force two overtime periods, but it wasn't enough as the Nyack College Warriors defeated the visiting Chargers, 2-1, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Moseley Field.
Nyack got on the scoreboard in the 15th minute as Finn Reese recorded a penalty kick goal. NC would hold that lead until 78:42 when senior Hallvard Kuloey (Bergen, Norway) headed the ball into the goal off the corner kick by Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain) to tie the game, 1-1.
The first overtime saw both teams take a shot as Dominican's shot went wide and Nyack's shot hit the post. In the second overtime, Dominican had five corner kicks, but a Warrior breakaway led to Reese's second goal of the game and give Nyack the 2-1 win.
DC had the 13-6 advantage in corner kicks, while Nyack had the edge in shots, 21-10.
Charger keeper Joshua Stephens (Stony Creek, Ontario) made a career high nine saves in the loss.
Dominican (1-8, 1-5 CACC) will travel to non-conference opponent, West Chester University this coming Saturday.
