CHARGERS EDGED BY WILDCATS

New Castle, Del. (10/6/17) The Chargers traveled to Wilmington University on Saturday seeking a win after defeating Concordia on Tuesday. The Chargers played a strong and aggressive game against Concordia and were looking to continue the same effort against Wilmington and earn another win.
In the first half, the Wildcats outshot the Chargers by a total of 6-2 while five minutes and two second into the game the Wildcats took an early lead. Abdul Mansaray scored the first Wildcat goal for his sixth of the season. Dominican's goalkeeper Joshua Stephens (Stony Creek, Ontario) made two saves in the half to keep the score 1-0. Vinny Tasca made three saves in the first half to keep the Chargers scoreless for the time being.
The first half ended with the Wildcats in front 1-0 but the score would not stay that way for long. Twelve minutes into the second half at the 57:02 mark, Sergio Monton (Madrid Spain) scored his fifth goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 and gets his team back in the game. The game remained tied and both teams stayed aggressive trying to get the second goal first which could mean the game. Stephens made four saves while Tasca made two saves in the second half. At the 70:18 mark, Abdul Mansaray scored his seventh goal of the season and second of the game to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead which would ultimately be the final score of the game. The goal was off of a rebound which was initially saved by Stephens and ricocheted to Mansaray for the score.
It was a strong effort by both teams with the Wildcats ultimately coming out on top. For the Chargers, the effort was not enough as they lose the game late and will continue their search for their third win of the season on Wednesday when the host Post University at 3:30 PM.
