Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/11/17) The Chargers hosted the Eagles of Post University on Wednesday after falling to Wilmington last Saturday. In search of their third win, the Chargers knew a strong start will be the main premise of this game. Post entered one game under .500 in the conference and were looking to even up their conference record against Dominican.
Both teams were scoreless for the first part of the first half with offenses pretty much even. The Eagles broke through first at the 19:49 mark when Alvaro Sanchez scored off of a cross pass from teammate Sergio Diaz for the 1-0 lead. Post would take five total shots during the duration of the first half and Charger goalkeeper Joshua Stephens (Stony Creek, Ontario) recorded one save in the half. The Chargers took four shots in the half with Giovanni Riello making one save keeping the 1-0 lead in tact.
The second half was a stalemate for 45 minutes with Post's offense taking two shots with one being on goal and stopped by Stephens to keep his team in the game. The Chargers took seven shots in the second half giving every effort and taking advantage of every opportunity to try and tie the game. Riello made three saves to keep the Chargers scoreless and help his team keep the 1-0 lead which was ultimately the final score.
The Eagles improved their record to 5-6 (4-4 CACC) and will travel to Wilmington on Saturday and will look to extend their winning streak to three. As for the Chargers, they drop to 2-11 (2-7 CACC) and will travel to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday. With only four games left in the regular season, the Chargers will look to finish the season off strong.
