ATKINSON'S OT WINNER GIVES CHARGERS FIRST WIN OVER NYACK

Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/11/18) The Dominican College Men's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Tuesday by a score of 1-0 in overtime. The game was the Charger's home opener for the season and with the win, DC improved their record to 1-3 (1-1 CACC). The Warriors fell to 1-4 (0-2 CACC) with the loss.
Freshman Adam Atkinson (Harrogate, England) scored his first collegiate goal of his career in the overtime at the 95:58 mark of the game. The goal was assisted by sophomore forward Tajae Swaby (Teaneck, N.J.) on a cross.
In the first half, both goalies kept the game scoreless. For the Chargers, Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded four saves to keep the Warriors off the board. For the Warriors, Pedro Santolaya made two saves in the opening half.
The game remained scoreless in the second half as Doll recorded two more saves as well as Santolaya to send the game into overtime scoreless.
In the overtime period, Doll recorded his seventh save of the game to keep the game scoreless. Atkinson took the ninth shot of the game for the Chargers which secured the 1-0 overtime win. Doll earned the shutout win for his first of the 2018 season.
The Chargers will look to continue the momentum when they host the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
