Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/27/18) The Dominican College men's soccer team earned their third win of the season against Hartwick College on Thursday. The Chargers improved their overall record to 3-6 on the season after the 5-0 win.
The Chargers had five different goal scorers in the win. The first goal was scored early in the first half at the 12:10 mark when Jhosep Tovar (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) for the 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 for the remainder of the opening half.
The Chargers opened the game up with four goals in the second half to secure the 5-0 victory. Daniel Mistretta (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored Dominican's second goal of the game at the 50:43 mark to open the scoring in the second half.
At 72:29, the Chargers extended to their lead out to 3-0 when Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) scored the third goal of the game. At 79:42, Wilber Mazariego (Suffern, N.Y.) added to the Charger lead to make the score 4-0. Felix Benitez () scored the fifth and final goal of the game to extend the DC lead to 5-0 at the 87:51 mark of the game.
As a team, the Chargers took 23 total shots and 12 were recorded on goal. Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) was the starting goalkeeper in the win for DC. Ewan Gray took six shots for the Chargers and four were recorded on goal. Lester Gudiel (Stamford, Conn.), Marouf Barry (Bronx, N.Y.), Daniel Mistretta, and Anthony Contero (Washingtonville, N.Y.) each finished the game with one assist.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, September 29th when they travel to Holy Family University for a CACC conference game at 2:30 PM.
