Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/10/19) The Dominican College men's soccer team earned a 3-1 conference win over Caldwell University at OMM Field #5 on Thursday.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 4-7 (2-3 CACC). With the loss, the Cougars fall to 1-8 (1-4 CACC) on the season.
Tyler Doll (St Louis, Mo.) recorded 10 saves in net for the Chargers. Nils Svere started in net for the Cougars and recorded four saves.
The first half was scoreless and the Cougars took seven shots while the Chargers took six shots, but neither team was able to score.
Maximino Casares Martinez (Ciudad De Panama, Panama) led the Chargers in shots with five and scored the game's first goal for the 1-0 lead. Just under three minutes later, Jean Paul Lyons (Toronto, Ontario) scored off of the assist from Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) and Martinez.
Alessandro Canino put the Cougars on the board and cut the DC lead to 2-1. Lyons extended the lead with his second goal of the game and Martinez earned the assist. The Chargers then closed out the 3-1 win.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, October 12th when they host Jefferson University at 6:00 PM at OMM Field #5.
