WILSON AND MERCED WIN AT CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lakewood, N.J. (5/6/18) The Dominican College men's track and field team finished in fourth place at the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships held today on the campus of Georgian Court University.
Lakewood, N.J. (5/6/18) The Dominican College men's track and field team finished in fourth place at the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships held today on the campus of Georgian Court University.
The team finished with a combined point total of 63 to finish behind Bloomfield College (196.5), Georgian Court Univeristy (192.5) and Post University (80).
Junior Seth Wilson (Monroe, N.Y.) won the 100m dash for the third straight year with a time of 10.89. Andrew Pierre (Spring Valley, N.Y.) took seventh place with a time of 11.26 and Dylan Roadarmel (New City, N.Y.) finished in 19th place with a time of 11.86.
Michael Merced (Nanuet, N.Y.) won the 200m dash with a time of 22.03. Wilson finished in second place with a time of 22.20, while Pierre took 10th place with a time of 23.12 and Roadarmel took 26th place with a time of 24.66.
The 400m dash saw Merced finish in second place with a time of 49.59. Freshman Jaylen Cruz (Middletown, N.Y.) took 13th place with a time of 53.49 and Rollens Florvil (Spring Valley, N.Y.) had a time of 55.22 to finish in 18th place.
Jovan Zigic (Burnaby, British Columbia) took fourth place in the 800m run with a time of 1:56.94, while Cameron Whitton (Monroe, N.Y.) took 15th place with a time of 2:08.17 and David Jeffers (Florida, N.Y.) finished in 19th place with a time of 2:37.05.
The 400m hurdles saw freshman Ryan McKivergan (New City, N.Y.) run a time of 1:04.41 to finish in 12th place.
Oscar Vidal (New City, N.Y.) and Nicholas Beutel (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) finished in 16th and 17th place in the 1500m run with times of 5:03.66 and 5:04.61.
In the 4x400m relay, the team of Cruz, Whitton, Zigic and Merced finished in fifth place with a time of 3:30.59.
The 4x100m relay team of Maye, Pierre, Roadarmel and Wilson took fifth place with a time of 44.24.
The long jump saw senior Savonn Maye (Springfield, N.J.) take third place with a jump of 6.35m (20 feet, 10.00 inches) and Justin Estevez (Nanuet, N.Y.) finish in 16th place with a jump of 5.58m (18 feet, 03.75 inches).
In the triple jump, Maye and Estevez finished in ninth and 10th place with throws of 12.91m (42 feet, 04.25 inches) and 12.31m (40 feet, 04.75 inches).
Sophomore George Psarakis (Monroe, N.Y.) took fifth place in the hammer throw with a throw of 27.48m (90 feet, 02.00 inches and finished seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 10.78m (35 feet, 04.50 inches). He also placed 11th in the discus throw with a throw of 26.62m (87 feet, 04.00 inches).
