MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION TO SHARKS
Brooklyn, N.Y. (1/31/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team fell in non-conference action to the Sharks of LIU in a match played at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The Chargers fell behind early after the Sharks took the opening set 25-21. The Sharks won another close set 25-21 after using a 10-4 run to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Chargers led for most of the third set and held a 24-21 advantage over the Sharks. LIU rallied to score five unanswered points and secure the sweep.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the way for the Chargers with 13.5 points, 12 kills, and eight digs. Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) added 11.5 points on nine kills, two service aces, and one block assist.
Gavin Tate (Appleton, Wis.) finished with seven kills and eight points while Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) recorded five kills and five points. Tyler Roukey (Hudson, Ohio) added six digs and four assists while Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) finished with a match high 28 assists.
The Sharks were led by Gio Collazo who recorded 15 points and 12 kills. Jack Sarnowski recorded 18 assists while Roei Horovitz added 17 assists. Joseph Nunez recorded a team-high seven digs.
The Chargers return home this Friday night when they host FDU at 7:00 PM in the Hennessy Center.
