PIASECKI AND CHILDERS NAMED TO 2010 DAKTRONICS SOFTBALL EAST ALL-REGION TEAM
Orangeburg, NY (5/19/10) Dominican College softball players, Cara Piasecki and Delaney Childers, have been named to the 2010 Daktronics Softball East All-Region Second Team as was announced today.
Orangeburg, NY (5/19/10) Dominican College softball players, Cara Piasecki and Delaney Childers, have been named to the 2010 Daktronics Softball East All-Region Second Team as was announced today.
Piasecki, a senior third basemen from Port Monmouth, NJ, earned her third consecutive All-CACC First Team selection this year. She leads the team and ranks third in the conference in batting (.415), on-base percentage (.503) and RBIs (49). She ranks third in the CACC and second on the team in runs scored (48), fourth in the conference and third on the team in hits (61) and second on the team and fifth in the CACC in total bases (94). Piasecki leads the team and is second in the conference in with 26 walks on the season. In her career, she has been named to the All-CACC Tournament Team three times, was the 2010 CACC Tournament MVP and earned her third consecutive All-CACC First Team honors this seaon.
In the post season, she hit .455 with a team leading 10 hits, a .591 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage. She earned the CACC Tournament MVP Award after hitting .530 with a .600 on-base percentage at the CACC Tournament with six runs scored and one RBI. She hit a home run in the championship game over Georgian Court and registered two hits in four of the five games.
Childers, a pitcher/outfielder from Johnstown, Ohio, finished the regular-season with a .393 batting average to rank second on her team, and checked in with 33 RBI, 13 doubles and 44 runs scored. As a pitcher, she concluded the regular-season with a 20-7 record and a 1.53 era. She fanned 130 batters in 178.1 innings and walked only 20. She was also previously named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year and to the All-CACC Second Team.
She sported a .348 average in the post-season with a .409 slugging percentage. On the mound she went 2-2 with a 2.74 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
