THREE SOFTBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO NFCA ALL-REGION TEAMS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/10/13) Three members of the Dominican College softball team were named to the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region East Team as was announced by the NFCA today. Julie Plante* and Kimberly Ragazzo were named to the All-East First Team, while Shannon Haukap earned Second Team accolades.

Julie Plante* and Kimberly Ragazzo were named to the All-East First Team, while Shannon Haukap earned Second Team accolades.
This year's squads are comprised of over 200 players from acrosse eight NFCA regions with first and second teams selected for each region.
NFCA member coaches in each of the eight regions selected this year's All-Region teams and all honorees now become eligible for selection to one of the three NFCA Division II All-American squads to be announced next week.

Plante makes her second NFCA career appearance and earns her first selection to the All-Region First team in 2013. Recently, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball First Team for the second straight year and made her third All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team appearance She has played in all 52 games this season and broke the school's all-time hit record this year. She ranked third in the CACC in hits and RBIs, fourth in doubles, fifth in runs scored and seventh in batting average and home runs.
This is Haukap and Ragazzo's first NFCA All-Region selections. Previously, both players earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team honors, while Ragazzo was tabbed the Rookie of the Year.
Ragazzo had an outstanding season for the Lady Chargers as she outpaced the conference in slugging percentage, total bases, runs batted in, home runs and runs scored. She was third in the conference in walks and ninth in batting average, hits and doubles. In league play, Ragazzo hit .453 (5th) with a .860 slugging percentage (2nd), 9 homeruns (1st) and 36 RBI (1st).
Haukap was second in the conference in home runs and slugging percentage, fifth in batting average, sixth in runs scored, seventh in RBIs and on-base percentage, 13th in hits and 14th in doubles.
