SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH POST UNIVERSITY
Waterbury, Conn. (3/27/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Post University, in games played this afternoon. DC took game one, 7-5 in nine innings and fell in the night cap, 10-7.

Waterbury, Conn. (3/27/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Post University, in games played this afternoon. DC took game one, 7-5 in nine innings and fell in the night cap, 10-7.
With the split, Dominican is now 3-11 overall and 1-1 in CACC play.
Game One: DC trailed 1-0 after two innings of play when the offense came alive with three runs on a three-run blast by Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) to put the Lady Chargers up 3-1. The rally would be short-lived however, as the Eagles rallied in the bottom stanza and tied the score at 3-3.
The score would remained tied until the top of the ninth inning when Dominican scored four runs on four hits. Brianna Arends (Raritan, N.J.) got things going with an RBI single to right field and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) later followed with a run scoring double to left center to give DC a 5-3 lead. Senior Paige Berzak* (Cypress, Calif.) delivered a two out two-run single to center field to extend the lead to 7-3.
Post would add two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the final 7-5 Lady Charger win.
Reliever Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) picked up the win in 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits. Starter Ragazzo went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three rusn (two earned) on seven hits.
Ragazzo, Arends, Berzak and Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) all had two hits in the win.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers scored runs in the first three innings to lead 5-2. In the first, Ragazzo hit an RBI double to left center field and the team tacked on three more runs in the second on a rbi single off th bat of Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) and a two-run single to right from Ragazzo. An RBI single from Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) in the third made the score 5-2.
Post rallied with a six run fourth stanza to go up, 8-5. DC got a run back in the fifth and sixth innings on an RBI single from Arends and a sacrifice fly ball to center field from Berzak to make the score 8-7. Two more Eagles runs in the bottom of the sixth secured the 10-7 win.
Ragazzo collected three hits and three RBIs in the game.
Hogan took the loss (1-4) in four innings of work, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits. Larsen came in for the last two innings and allowed two runs on one hit.
Dominican is scheduled to be in action tomorrow as they host Caldwell College.
