SOFTBALL SWEEPS CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/1/14) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Clippers of Concordia College this afternoon in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won game one, 6-1 and took the night cap by the score of 8-1.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/1/14) The Dominican College softball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Clippers of Concordia College this afternoon in games played at the DC Softball Field. The Lady Chargers won game one, 6-1 and took the night cap by the score of 8-1.
Game One: The Lady Chargers got on the board in the second inning as Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) scored on a fielding error and they added three more runs in the third as right fielder Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) produced a run-scoring double to center field and Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) blasted a two-run homer to left field.
DC tacked on two more runs in the fifth on the RBI single down the right field line by Collins and the RBI double down the left field line by first basemen Paige Berzak*(Cypress, Calif.) to extend the lead to 6-0. Concordia scored a run in the top of the seventh for the final 6-1 score.
Ragazzo got the complete game victory (2-3) after allowing one run (none earned) on six hits and six strikeouts.
Collins and Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) each had two hits in the win.
Game Two: Dominican scored runs in the first two innings to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
In the first, the team scored a run on an illegal pitch and then two runs scored on fielder's choices for the 3-0 lead.
DC added five runs in the second, highlighted by a three-run home run from Berzak which went over the centerfield fence for the 8-0 lead. Concordia got on the board with a run in the third for the eventual 8-1 score.
Berzak and Collins had two hits a-piece with Berzak having a game leading four RBIs in the win.
Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) picked up the win (2-4), allowing one run on five hits and three strikeouts.
With the victories, Dominican improves to 5-11 overall and 3-1 in CACC play.
