SOFTBALL SPLITS CACC GAMES WITH BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/9/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College in games played today at the DC Softball Field. DC took the first game, 8-2 and fell in the night cap, 6-3 to now stand at 7-17 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

(4/9/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College in games played today at the DC Softball Field. DC took the first game, 8-2 and fell in the night cap, 6-3 to now stand at 7-17 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Game One: DC got on the board in the second inning with two runs on back-to-back singles from Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) and Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) which brought home a run a-piece for the 2-0 lead.
The Lady Chargers added five more runs in the third as Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.), Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) and Gonzalez all recorded RBI hits to extend their lead to 5-0. During the Gonzalez at-bat an error allowed two more runs to score to make the score 7-0
BC got on the board with a run in the fifth inning, but the Lady Chargers got the run back in the bottom stanza on a solo blast off the bat of Bouffard to increase the lead to 8-1. The Deacons scored a run in the top of the seventh for the final 8-2 win.
Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) picked up the complete win (3-6), allowing two runs on four hits and four strikeouts.
Bouffard went 3-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Collins, Gonzalez and Hogan all collected two hits a-piece.
Game Two: The Lady Charger struck first in the night cap as Hogan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second for the 1-0 advantage.
Bloomfield scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to pull ahead 6-3.
Dominican added two runs in the final inning on the RBI ground out from Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrence, N.J.) and the RBI double from Hogan for the final 6-3 score.
Hogan and Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) both had two hits in the loss.
Ragazzo took the loss (3-6).
