Lyndhurst, N.J. (4/13/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Felician College, in games played this afternoon at Matera Field. With the split, Dominican is now 10-19 overall and 8-7 in CACC Play.

Lyndhurst, N.J. (4/13/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Felician College, in games played this afternoon at Matera Field. With the split, Dominican is now 10-19 overall and 8-7 in CACC Play.
Dominican won game one, 14-8 in eight innings, while the Goldent Falcons took the second game, 7-6 in eight innings.
Game One: The Lady Chargers opened the game with a four-run first inning as Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) had run-scoring singles to the left side of the diamond and shortstop Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) later hit a two out two-run single to left field for the 4-0 lead.
DC added two runs in the fouth stanza on the bases loaded walk issued to Ragazzo and the sacrifice fly ball hit to center from Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) to bring home the sixth DC run of the game and make the score 6-0.
Felician rallied with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth, one in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-4. In the top half of the seventh inning, Truppi and Bouffard hit sacrifice fly balls to score runs and give Dominican a 8-4 lead.
The Golden Falcons rallied with a four-run seventh inning to tie the score, 8-8 and force extra innings.
In the eighth inning, the Lady Chargers put six runs across the plate to regain a 14-8 lead. Ragazzo had an RBI single and later scored on a muffed throw. Brianna Arends (Raritan, N.J.) hit a two-run single and Bouffard reached on a sac bunt which brought home a run and the eventual 14-8 win.
Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) picked up the win (2-5) in 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: Felician led 6-0 after six innings of play, when the Lady Charger offense came alive with six runs on seven hits in the top of the seventh inning. Bouffard tripled to right field to score two runs and Elontay Collins (San Dieo, Calif.) singled home a run. Hogan hit a two-run double to center field and designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) singled to right field to bring home the game-tying run and force extra innings once again.
In the eighth, FC doubled home the game winning run for the 7-6 win.
Larsen took the loss (2-6) in 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on six hits.
