LADY CHARGERS TAKE TWO FROM WARRIORS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/14/14) The Dominican College softball team improved to 12-19 overall and 10-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in play after sweeping the visiting Warriors of Nyack College in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. DC won the first game, 6-4 and took the night cap, 8-0 in five innings.

(4/14/14) The Dominican College softball team improved to 12-19 overall and 10-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in play after sweeping the visiting Warriors of Nyack College in games played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. DC won the first game, 6-4 and took the night cap, 8-0 in five innings.
Game One: Nyack jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, but DC got a run back in the bottom stanza on the RBI triple by Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.).
NC added a run in the second, but the Lady Chargers rallied with three runs on the RBI single by Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas), the sacrifice bunt by Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) and the RBI triple from Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) to tie the score at 4-4.
Dominican added two runs in the sixth inning as Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch and Haukap followed with an RBI single to right field for the 6-4 lead and eventual victory.
Gonzalez went 3-3 with two runs scored and added an RBI. Haukap finished with two RBIs.
Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) picked up the win (5-7) as she pitched six innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits. Starter Emily Larsen (Midlothian, Ill.) pitched one inning and allowed three runs on three hits.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers collected 11 hits in the 8-0 five inning game two victory. DC put three runs on the board in the first as Ragazzo hit a two-run home run and Brianna Arends (Raritan, N.J.) later followed with an RBI single.
Dominican tacked on five more runs in the second stanza as Hogan, Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.), Arends and Bouffard all had run-scoring hits, while designated player Anne Shiebler (Wrentham, Mass.) drew a bases loaded walk to bring home a run to increase the lead to 8-0.
Truppi collected three hits in the victory.
Ragazzo improved to 5-6 with the win, scattering just three hits over five innings and collecting five strikeouts.
