LADY CHARGERS SPLIT WITH #8 HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/16/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with Holy Family University, currently ranked eighth in the East Region, in games played today at Helen Randle Park. The Tigers took game one, 8-0 in five innings, while the Lady Chargers took the night cap, 6-4.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/16/14) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with Holy Family University, currently ranked eighth in the East Region, in games played today at Helen Randle Park. The Tigers took game one, 8-0 in five innings, while the Lady Chargers took the night cap, 6-4.
With the split, Dominican now stands at 13-20 overall and 11-8 in conference play.
Game One: The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and added five more in the fourth en route to the 8-0 victory in five innings.
Centerfielder Brianna Arends (Raritan, N.J.) had both the Lady Charger hits.
Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) suffered the loss (5-8), allowing eight runs (five earned) on eight hits.
Game Two: The Lady Charger offense came alive in game two as they scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Catcher Shannon Haukap* (Edmonds, Wash.) got things going with an RBI double that brought home lead off hitter, Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.).
After a Tiger error allowed Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) to reach base, Hogan followed with a three-run homer to give Dominican the 4-0 lead.
DC added a run in the fourth stanza as Haukap recorded her second RBI double of the game and and extended the lead to 6-2 in the sixth off the lead off home run from Collins. The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-4 final score.
Collins, Haukap and Hogan all had two hits in the game, while Hogan had a team leading three RBIs.
Ragazzo picked up the complete game win (6-6), allowing four runs on eight hits and four strikeouts.
