SOFTBALL SWEEPS PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/23/14) The Dominican College softball team split a double-header with the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played today at the DC Softball field. DC won the first game, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game, 8-0 in five innings, and won the nightcap, a non-conference contest, 4-3.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/23/14) The Dominican College softball team split a double-header with the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in games played today at the DC Softball field. DC won the first game, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game, 8-0 in five innings, and won the nightcap, a non-conference contest, 4-3.
With the sweep, the Lady Chargers improve to 15-22 overall and 12-10 in conference play.
Game One: DC jumped ahead with a four-run second inning as shortstop Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) and pitcher Kimberly Ragazzo* (Lawrenceville, N.J.) each hit two-run home runs for a 4-0 lead.
In the third inning, a fielder's choice on Ariana Trembone's (Staten Island, N.Y.) allowed a run to score and a RBI single off the bat of Elontay Collins (San Diego, Calif.) made the score 6-0 after four innings. The Lady Chargers ended the game in the fifth inning on a Bouffard two-run single for the final 8-0 score.
Ragazzo got the complete game shut out victory (7-7) and scattered just two hits.
Game Two: Philadelphia led 1-0 after two and a half innings, when the Lady Chargers scored three runs as Ragazzo hit a two-run double and Collins executed a squeeze bunt to plate a run and put DC up 3-1.
The Rams rallied with two runs in the sixth inning to tie the score at 3-3, but Dominican won the game in the bottom stanza on a lead off home run from Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) for the final 4-3 score.
Hogan and Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) each had two hits in the win.
Hogan picked up the win in 1 2/3 innings of relief to improve to 6-9 on the season.
