SOFTBALL TAKES TWINBILL FROM WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/25/14) The Dominican College softball team took two games from the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. With the victories, Dominican improves to 17-22 overall and 14-10 in conference play.

(4/25/14) The Dominican College softball team took two games from the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played this afternoon at the DC Softball Field. With the victories, Dominican improves to 17-22 overall and 14-10 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican pounded out 13 hits in 9-1 six inning first game victory. DC scored the first run in the bottom of the first inning with a single up-the-middle off the bat of pitcher Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.).
The Lady Chargers added to lead in the third inning with a three-run blast over the centerfield fence to increase the lead to 4-0.
A run in the fourth on a single by Jacqueline Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) made the score 5-0 and two more runs in the fifth inning on an RBI ground out by Shannon Truppi (Little Ferry, N.J.) and a single from center fielder Brianna Arends (Raritan, N.J.) to go ahead 7-0.
Wilmington scored a run in the sixth, but the Lady Chargers tacked on two more runs in the bottom stanza on a two-run shot to right center field to plate two runs and lead Dominican to the 9-1 six inning victory.
Hogan earned the complete game victory, allowing one run on five hits, to improve to 7-9 on the season.
Game Two: Dominican scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning as Hogan hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to bring home a run and senior Paige Berzak (Cypress, Calif.) hit an RBI single to right field. Truppi later followed with an RBI double down the left field line for the 3-0 lead.
The 'Cats scored two runs in the third inning to cut the lead to 3-2, but DC held fast for the remaining four innings for the 3-2 win.
Shortstop Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) had two hits in the win.
Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrenceville, N.J.) got the complete game win to improve to 8-7 on the season.
Following the game the team honores seniors: #4 Shelby Wassmann* (Loudoun, Va.) and #11 Paige Berzak*.
